Transforming RINA’s Mobile Core Network with Metaswitch

RINA Wireless, a rural mobile virtual network enabler serving 26 carriers across 17 states, needed to move beyond declining CDMA handset availability and the limitations of legacy circuit-switched networks. To future-proof its services and support VoLTE, VoWiFi, and future rich communications offerings, RINA selected Metaswitch’s cloud-native VoLTE and vIMS solution.

Metaswitch implemented a geo-redundant software IMS core using Clearwater Core vIMS, Rhino TAS, and Perimeta CSCF, giving RINA a converged wireless and wireline platform. The result was dramatic OPEX savings, reduced footprint from an entire office to a single rack, increased revenue from VoLTE and IMS-based services, and a more agile foundation for launching new hosted services such as MaX and RCS.
