Manx Telecom, the leading communications provider on the Isle of Man, needed to replace an end-of-life IMS platform and modernize its voice services while supporting a mix of legacy network elements. To meet this challenge, Manx Telecom worked with Metaswitch and VMware to move toward a virtualized, software-based NFV architecture using Metaswitch Clearwater Core vIMS and related components.

Metaswitch implemented a geo-redundant, VMware-based virtual IMS solution including Clearwater Core, Perimeta SBC, AGCF, MetaSphere TAS, MRS, and MetaView SAS. The project was completed in 10 months, and residential subscriber migration finished in just 4 weeks, giving Manx Telecom a carrier-grade, fully software-based platform with improved interoperability, rapid service delivery, and better operational visibility and resiliency.
