Case Study: Sprint achieves future-proof cloud-native services with Metaswitch

A Metaswitch Case Study

Preview of the Sprint Case Study

Future-proof Services Thanks to Cloud Architectures

Sprint, a major U.S. wireless service provider, needed to modernize its core network to stay competitive amid intense price, coverage, and speed pressures. As it moved toward VoLTE and future services, Sprint looked for a flexible, cloud-based architecture that could support virtualization, scale, and multi-vendor interoperability. It turned to Metaswitch for virtualized IMS and SBC capabilities, including SBC, CSCF, and BGCF services.

Metaswitch delivered a cloud-native, fully virtualized solution aligned with Sprint’s NFV strategy and its C3PO core reference architecture, helping Sprint support VoLTE and create a more scalable foundation for future services. The implementation was preceded by extensive testing to validate performance, and it gave Sprint a cost-efficient, partner-friendly platform with subscriber-based licensing and cloud tracing for service assurance. While the case study does not cite numeric savings, it highlights improved flexibility, scalability, and readiness for new services as the key impact of Metaswitch’s solution.
