Case Study: Claro achieves lower-cost service innovation with Metaswitch

A Metaswitch Case Study

Preview of the Claro Case Study

Claro - Customer Case Study

Claro, the Argentina-based mobile operator and part of América Móvil, needed to launch new innovative mobile services while continuing to deliver existing revenue-generating IN services at a lower cost. Its challenge was to make a single strategic IMS service layer investment that could support both legacy GSM and IMS users, preserve the same service experience after retiring an end-of-life IN platform, and accelerate the launch of new services in a fast-moving market.

Metaswitch provided a Converged IN/IMS Application Server, described in the case study as Rhino TAS, enabling IN and IMS applications to run on one platform for all subscribers regardless of network type. The solution reduced complexity and avoided duplicate service builds across IMS and GSM, helping Claro migrate to lower-cost infrastructure without disruption. Metaswitch’s platform also supported service innovation and delivered measurable impact, including multi-million-dollar savings, greater flexibility for new convergent services, and several million dollars in cost avoidance through early retirement of the legacy IN platform.
