BT Global Services needed a flexible, mission-critical communications platform for trading floors that could deliver ultra-low latency call handling without the cost and delay of building a next-generation system from scratch. Metaswitch provided the underlying platform for BT’s IP Multimedia Financial Trading Communications service.

Using Metaswitch, BT built an open, software-based, SIP-connected trading communications platform for purpose-built trading consoles, supporting voice, IM, email, video, and SMS with ultra-low latency and high throughput. The solution helped BT bring a cost-effective, cloud-compatible service to market, improved scalability and flexibility for customers ranging from single traders to hundreds of users, and enabled faster responses to market changes while encouraging migration away from legacy hardware systems.
