A Metaswitch Case Study

Broadvoice and Metaswitch Build a Geo-Redundant Solution in the Cloud

Broadvoice, a hosted voice and data provider serving consumers and businesses across the U.S. and Canada, needed a future-proof, geo-redundant network to support rapid growth and demanding business customers. To meet that challenge, Broadvoice turned to Metaswitch and its clustered MetaSphere Multiservice Telephony Application Server (MTAS) to replace its existing platform and deliver the geographic redundancy, scalability, and flexibility expected by enterprise buyers and channel partners.

Metaswitch implemented a multi-state, geo-redundant, fully virtualized MTAS solution in the cloud on VMWare, giving Broadvoice active-active redundancy across multiple POPs and easier scaling without adding vendor hardware. The result was improved resilience against disasters, lower infrastructure costs, and faster service expansion; Broadvoice also reported that 25% of sales come from word-of-mouth and that it maintains an industry-low churn rate, while continuing to grow its business services portfolio with carrier-grade cloud voice and UC offerings.
