River Island Drives Huge Efficiency Gains with Metapack

River Island, a high-street fashion retailer with over 350 stores and six online sites, needed to reduce time and resource demands, offer more delivery choice and convenience, and gain greater flexibility in carrier allocation to cut costs. To address these challenges the retailer partnered with Metapack and implemented MetaPack Manager along with MetaPack Options and MetaTrack to modernize carrier integration and delivery options.

Metapack implemented a rule‑based allocation system that dynamically assigns parcels to carriers by product type, value, size and postcode, expanded international and PUDO options, and centralised tracking with MetaTrack. As a result Metapack’s solution drove a c.39% reduction in overseas delivery costs (around £3 million in savings over three years), reduced inbound customer service enquiries by 35%, cut management resource needs by about 20%, and increased delivery choice and conversion rates.
