Cuenca, a Mexican neobank founded in 2018 with ambitions to be the primary account for users in Mexico and LatAm, needed to meet strict CNBV KYC/AML requirements while supporting rapid, international growth. To achieve fast, reliable onboarding and avoid managing multiple country-specific vendors, Cuenca selected MetaMap’s user verification/KYC solution.

MetaMap delivered a rapid, low-effort integration (a few lines of API code, a shared Slack channel, webhook delivery and legal guidance), enabling users to verify by uploading a national ID and a 3‑second video and receive results in under 2 minutes; the full integration took 4 days. As a result, Cuenca achieved fast KYC compliance (filing KYC/AML screening with CNBV), scaled onboarding to 50,000+ daily users, and supported a reported 10,000% increase in registered users in 2019 while eliminating the need for multiple identity providers.
