Case Study: Central YMCA reduces database storage costs by two-thirds and meets compliance with Metalogix Software's StoragePoint

YMCA faced rapidly growing SharePoint storage and strict regulatory archival requirements from bodies like Ofqual, Ofsted and HMRC. Using SharePoint 2010 alongside Microsoft Dynamics CRM, YMCA was accumulating roughly 500 GB of CRM-generated content (about 10,000 emails per month) that was causing database sprawl and disk usage to double or triple each month. To address this, YMCA evaluated and selected Metalogix Software’s StoragePoint.

Metalogix Software implemented StoragePoint to externalize BLOBs to appropriate storage tiers (NAS, CAS and cloud) and integrated with YMCA’s CRM workflow so attachments move into SharePoint and are then stored outside the database. The result: database storage costs were cut by two thirds, SQL databases shrank to about 40 GB, backup times were halved, regulatory archiving needs were met, and YMCA gained a scalable path to a hybrid cloud environment.
