TransAlta Improves its Overall SharePoint Maturity and Efficiency with Metalogix Migration Solutions

TransAlta, a global power generator, faced a large SharePoint migration of more than 300 team sites (2 TB) to Office 365 to improve capacity and disaster recovery readiness. Native tools and STSADM scripts were slow, error-prone and consumed much of the SharePoint team’s time, preventing staff from focusing on strategic work. Metalogix Software implemented Metalogix Migration Solutions to automate and script the migrations with a GUI that preserved content and permissions, cutting the effort from 10 people over two months to 2 people in three weeks. The project reduced SharePoint reorg/migration time from ~30% to ~10% of the team’s workload, lowered administration by over 20%, saved about $45,000 annually, and freed the team to improve SharePoint maturity and user adoption.
