Nederman, a global environmental engineering firm headquartered in Helsingborg, Sweden, relied on SharePoint to archive large Solid Edge CAD drawings and support 1,500 users for intranet/extranet collaboration. Facing rapid SQL Server database growth, scalability and backup challenges from storing many large CAD files, Nederman turned to Metalogix Software and its StoragePoint solution to manage and externalize those files without disrupting SharePoint workflows.

Metalogix Software deployed StoragePoint to externalize BLOBs and CAD drawings into optimized storage while remaining integrated with SharePoint central admin. The implementation externalized roughly two‑thirds of intranet, extranet and drawings content, freed more than 65% of SQL Server space, shortened backup times by enabling file‑level backups, and delivered faster loading for large files—addressing performance, storage and backup issues while allowing continued SharePoint growth.
