Case Study: Eggleston Steel achieves cutting-edge profiling and automated e-commerce with Metalogic

A Metalogic Case Study

Preview of the Eggleston Steel Case Study

Eggleston Steel has come a long way since it was first established in 1809

Eggleston Steel is a family-run metal stockholder and processor in the East Midlands, established in 1809. After relocating to larger premises and expanding through the 2000s, the company faced pressure from customers to add value by supplying more finished, precision-cut components, while also needing to replace ageing bespoke IT systems that had failed around the millennium and to create space and capacity for heavier, more precise profiling work.

To meet that challenge Eggleston invested in larger premises and advanced equipment — high‑definition XD plasma machines with a 13m x 4m cutting area and gas heads for up to 250mm plate, plus a 6 kW TRUMPF CO2 laser with a 4m x 2m bed — and implemented Metalogic’s iMetalServer™ e‑commerce and integration platform. The combined production and IT upgrades delivered tighter tolerances, faster quoting and order automation, opened markets in automotive, rail and aerospace, and supported growth (turnover rising from £2.5m to £7.5m and staff from ~20 to 46), giving Eggleston greater flexibility and competitiveness.
