Case Study: HubSpot achieves faster deployments, higher reliability, and lower costs with Mesosphere (Apache Mesos)

A Mesosphere Case Study

HubSpot - Customer Case Study

HubSpot, a SaaS marketing platform, adopted Apache Mesos to run a mix of web services, long‑running processes, and scheduled jobs across its Amazon EC2 infrastructure. The key challenge was introducing this new deployment paradigm to roughly 100 engineers and consolidating hundreds of small servers while improving deployment speed, reliability, and resource utilization.

HubSpot built a custom scheduler and user interface on top of Mesos to simplify deployments and surface application state, enabling developers to self-serve resources, recover automatically from hardware failures, and manage cron jobs via the web. Results included faster, lower‑friction deployments, standardized server footprints (replacing many small servers with fewer larger ones), reduced hardware costs, and a QA environment that now runs at about 50% of its previous capacity.
