A Meshy Case Study
Florida Universitària, a higher education school in Spain, faced a challenge in its 3D animation program where the previsualization phase was consistently being sacrificed due to time constraints. Students were spending 1-2 hours manually building placeholder assets, which limited their ability to test cameras and composition, creating a bottleneck before production. To address this, the school implemented a pilot using the image-to-3D service from vendor Meshy.
The solution involved students using Meshy to quickly generate 3D volumetric proxies from their own concept art. This cut the placeholder modeling time from 1-2 hours down to just 5-15 minutes per model, a reduction of up to 90%. Over a two-week pilot, 49 students generated 448 models, which allowed for more iterative previs work and enabled the entire team, not just a few specialists, to contribute to early visual decisions. Meshy successfully reintroduced previs as a viable and effective phase in the curriculum.
