APECS Italy turns 2D photos into interactive 3D models in minutes with Meshy

Apecs Italy, the national committee of the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists, faced the challenge of making the distant and abstract polar ecosystems feel tangible and engaging to the public. To bridge this gap, marine biologist Alice Guzzi turned to the vendor Meshy and its AI-powered Image-to-3D service to transform 2D photos into interactive 3D models without requiring deep technical expertise.

Using Meshy, the team created accurate 3D models of polar organisms from simple photographs. This solution was showcased at a national conference, where visitors used QR codes to view and interact with the models in augmented reality. The project made science more accessible and memorable, fostering a deeper public connection to polar research and demonstrating Meshy's role as a powerful tool for science communication and education.
