The customer, A. Berger GmbH & Co. Präzisions-Maschinenbauteile KG, faced a challenge in designing a new, dynamically heavy-loaded ball screw drive. They needed to achieve a higher level of safety that exceeded standard calculation methods for their double nut ball screw. They engaged the vendor, Meshparts, to assist with this engineering challenge.
Meshparts provided advanced simulation studies, utilizing extremely detailed FE-models for analysis. This solution allowed for an easy evaluation of the load-dependent contact angle change for each individual sphere in the design. The results included a higher achieved safety factor and a better understanding of the complex effects within the ball screw, which ultimately served to increase its service life.
