Panasonic rolls out in-flight entertainment to 9 airlines with Mercury Intermedia

Mercury Intermedia partnered with Panasonic Avionics Corporation (PAC), a division of Panasonic, to address the challenge of high costs and space limitations associated with traditional seat-back in-flight entertainment systems. PAC sought to leverage passengers' personal devices to supplement or replace these systems and provide entertainment options for smaller carriers.

The solution developed by Mercury Intermedia was a customizable, white-labeled suite of applications called PanaSky. This suite included a companion app to control seat-back systems, a standalone streaming app for planes without seat-backs, and a modular version for integration into existing airline apps. As a result, the PanaSky products have been successfully adopted by nine global airlines, including Qantas and Lufthansa, enhancing the passenger experience by providing versatile and cost-effective in-flight entertainment on both iOS and Android platforms.
