Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG), a global cigar and pipe tobacco manufacturer, faced the challenge of consolidating its fragmented payroll operations across 14 different countries. The company needed to replace its country-by-country payroll systems with a single platform and governance model without compromising on local statutory compliance, banking requirements, or the complexities of managing both blue- and white-collar employees. To address this, STG partnered with vendor Mercans to implement its HR Blizz managed payroll and SaaS solution.

Mercans implemented its HR Blizz platform, which provided native statutory compliance engines for each of the 14 countries, automated bank disbursements using custom ISO 20022 files, and integrated seamlessly with STG's existing SAP SuccessFactors HCM. The solution automated payroll processing for 2,613 employees, eliminated manual data re-keying, and enabled STG to self-maintain complex benefits. Mercans successfully delivered the program, resulting in a fully consolidated and compliant global payroll system with a single, validated data flow.
