Reflections from a Mentor and Mentee on Their Experience in U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's Professional Mentoring Program

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service engaged Mentoring Complete (Management Mentors' online mentoring software and training) in 2009 to launch a corporate professional mentoring program aimed at strengthening leadership, strategic planning, and the agency’s internal culture, productivity, and professionalism across regional and field offices.

Mentoring Complete provided the online platform and facilitator training to pair mentors and mentees; outcomes included a mentee-updated strategic plan that was put into use immediately, demonstrable gains in leadership competencies (visioning and strategic planning), increased confidence and listening skills for mentors, and stronger cross-office relationships—results that improved program performance and reinforced organizational commitment to staff development.
