Creating Healthy Mentoring Programs for the Largest Health System in Kentucky

KentuckyOne Health, the largest health system in Kentucky, sought to develop and grow its newly formed leadership cadre through a New Leader Pathway Mentoring Program to support career planning, industry and organizational understanding, and leadership skills. To manage and scale the program across more than 200 locations, program manager Ashley Barnes adopted the Mentoring Complete software to administer mentoring activities and pair mentors and mentorees statewide.

Using Mentoring Complete, KentuckyOne automated program administration and used the platform’s matching algorithm to create effective mentor/mentoree pairs across several small cohorts (ranging from two to nine pairs); one program has completed and two others are underway. The vendor’s solution helped participants gain leadership skills and solve workplace issues—mentees reported using mentor guidance to resolve department problems and complete additional training—and Management Mentors’ Mentoring Complete reports a 90% success rate in matching, making program management markedly easier.
