Creating A Successful Mentoring Program for the Largest Car Rental Company in North America

Enterprise Rent-A-Car, part of Enterprise Holdings and one of North America’s largest car rental companies, faced declining employee satisfaction with its mentoring programs and a need to improve program quality and retention. To address this, Enterprise engaged Mentoring Complete to redesign its corporate mentoring approach and provide an online mentoring system and program management services.

Mentoring Complete shifted Enterprise to a “true mentoring” model tied to four strategic goals (leadership development, diverse management, retention, and satisfaction), piloted the program (68 pairs) and then rolled it out companywide using its online platform to centralize administration and reduce manager workload. The program grew to roughly 450 active pairs in a 12‑month rolling report with over 89% pair retention, mentee retention above 92% (over 94% for women and minorities), promotions exceeding expectations, and about 2,700 employees reached over five years—outcomes credited to Mentoring Complete’s design and platform.
