Zurich’s DevOps Team Helps Close Business with a 90-minute App Prototype
Zurich Insurance’s DevOps team, led by Barrington Clarke, was asked by a corporate client with a fleet of over 2,000 vehicles to solve a persistent problem: drivers were delaying accident reporting. The business challenge was to rapidly demonstrate a simple, reliable mobile First Notice of Loss (FNOL) solution to win the account and improve loss reporting.
Using Mendix Studio, the team built a working prototype in 90 minutes and then, with just an expert developer, a business engineer and a UI/UX accelerator, turned it into a production-ready mobile app in four weeks. The app—featuring one-touch claim options, pre-populated profiles, geolocation, witness/incident forms and integrated camera and roadside assistance—helped Zurich close the deal and showcased the DevOps team’s ability to deliver high-impact solutions at speed.
