Schwarz Group, the parent company of Lidl and Kaufland, was relying on many manual and legacy processes across its supply chain and stores, which made it hard for IT to keep up with digital demands. With a shortage of developers and slow traditional development tools, Schwarz Group turned to Mendix to speed up application delivery and support local teams.

Mendix helped Schwarz Group establish a low-code Center of Excellence and deliver more than 120 applications, including tools for product recalls, EDI supplier management, inventory control, and store cleaning workflows. The vendor’s platform cut development timelines dramatically—one project estimated at 800 Java days was scoped at 200 days with Mendix and finished in 300—and helped teams launch new apps in weeks or months instead of years, improving efficiency, transparency, and inventory accuracy across the business.
