Teraco, a fast-growing, vendor-neutral colocation provider in South Africa, faced operational strain as its spreadsheet-driven back office couldn’t keep up with rapid customer and service growth. Sales, finance and operations used disconnected systems, causing delays in provisioning and billing, and commercial software packages would have required lengthy, costly customization to meet their needs.
Teraco proved a Mendix prototype in under a week and with just two developers built “Ozone,” a modular core back-end supporting CRM, operations and billing in iterative weekly releases. The Mendix solution automated workflows and billing (cutting the previous 10–12 day cycle), enabled customer self-service, increased process efficiency by about 25%, and provided a scalable, future-proof platform to support continued growth.
