STC Elevates the Classroom Experience with Low-Code

STC, a maritime and logistics educational institute in the Netherlands, needed a modern way to keep its classroom simulator accessible, maintainable, and ready for changing logistics and technology requirements. Its legacy .NET-based Transport Chain Simulator was limited to the classroom, hard to update, and dependent on a single developer, which became especially problematic during the pandemic. STC turned to Mendix low-code development platform to replace the outdated system and support more flexible, cloud-based learning.

With Mendix, STC rebuilt its Transport Chain Simulator for broader access, faster updates, and easier collaboration across teachers and developers. The new platform runs in the cloud, integrates with other systems, and uses reusable modules to extend functionality; it also enables multi-student exercises and better teacher oversight. As a result, STC can now update the simulator more quickly, support remote work and learning, and continue expanding the experience with new modules and roles.
