Springer Healthcare Improves Sales Force Mobility and Customer Service

Springer Healthcare, a global provider of customized scientific content, needed to modernize its desktop-only sales platform so more than 200 remote sales and operations staff across 20 offices could access client information, quotes and content on desktop, tablet and mobile devices. Management faced a projected 12-month development timeline and high costs for a traditional rebuild, which threatened their ability to support real-time, on-site customer conversations and drive sales.

Springer selected the Mendix visual, model-driven platform and—using a two-person development team—launched the new “SMART” app in 12 weeks. The Mendix approach enabled iterative development and strong business–IT collaboration, high user adoption, and integrations with SAP CRM and project management systems that eliminated duplicate data entry. SMART now serves 70–100 users weekly, has spurred further Mendix projects (including a re-built C3 content database and a customer portal) and delivered faster time-to-market, improved sales and service and industry recognition (2015 UK App Design Awards, Gold).
