Amsterdam Airport Schiphol needed a better way for its floor managers to communicate operational incidents and hand over shifts. Critical information was being recorded on pen and paper or passed by word of mouth across three daily briefings, which led to lost or altered details, duplicated calls, and time wasted verifying the true status of issues in the busy terminal environment.
The digital team built Schiphol Today, a user-researched, low-code mobile app that centralizes incident reporting, provides real-time updates and integrations with existing airport systems, and stores a digital record for each shift. The app reduced ad hoc calls and information loss, gave floor managers a clearer sense of control, adapted quickly to COVID-driven changes, and produced reusable components to scale the solution to other mobile workforce roles.
