Saga Healthcare Disrupts Established Homecare Market with a Low-code Platform

Saga, a long-established UK brand serving the over‑50s, expanded from travel, insurance and financial services into home healthcare with the goal of raising quality and disrupting an entrenched market. To launch quickly and meet changing customer needs they needed an agile, cost‑effective platform for scheduling, billing and care management — but an initial in‑house estimate put development at three years and £12m, risking lost opportunity and slow responsiveness.

Using Mendix low‑code, Saga built SACHA — an automated caregiver‑to‑patient scheduling and billing system — in six months for under £250k. SACHA increased scheduling efficiency roughly 10x, bought more than 2½ years in market, freed staff from manual tasks, and enabled reinvestment in new features; Saga now holds a Good rating in all five UK Care Quality Commission categories.
