Rapid Innovation Across the Insurance Customer Journey

ONVZ, a premium health insurer in the Netherlands, needed to speed up innovation across its customer and broker journey to compete with larger rivals. Legacy .NET, C#, and Sitecore systems, plus limited internal development capacity and poor system visibility, made it hard to launch new features fast enough to improve customer experience. ONVZ chose Mendix low-code with implementation partner Emixa to shorten time to market and modernize its digital platforms.

Using Mendix, ONVZ delivered five applications, including a broker portal, onboarding portal, chat app, integration layer, and rebuilt web and mobile versions of MyEnvironment. The results included faster delivery, improved self-service and personalization, and major process simplification, such as digitizing expat declarations in just 2–3 sprints. ONVZ reported 98–99% customer adoption in the first week of launch for one app and completed the new MyEnvironment app in 11 months, giving Mendix a clear impact on agility and competitiveness.
