Case Study: Mitsubishi Elevator Europe achieves IoT-enabled remote monitoring and faster, predictive maintenance with Mendix

A Mendix Case Study

Preview of the Mitsubishi Elevator Europe Case Study

Mitsubishi Elevator Creates an IoT-Enabled Remote Monitoring System

Mitsubishi Elevator, a global supplier of elevators since 1951, sought to differentiate itself as the elevator market became commoditized by focusing on service, technology, and customer experience. The company faced immediate pandemic-driven needs for contactless interfaces and a longer-term challenge to integrate disparate systems—field service, IoT sensor data, and R&D models—into a coherent maintenance and uptime strategy.

Working with TimeSeries and using Mendix low-code (now part of Siemens), Mitsubishi built quick, fit-for-purpose applications—most notably a QR-code contactless floor-selection app developed in two weeks—plus a field service app and a remote monitoring system fed by IoT sensors and a predictive lifetime model. The result: faster response times, reduced admin, more accurate engineer dispatching, fewer emergency visits, lower costs and carbon footprint, and measurably improved customer satisfaction with the foundation to scale integrated, predictive maintenance across the fleet.
