Low Code Straight-Through-Processing Transforms Insurance Business Operations

HDI Global, a long-established industrial insurer, faced challenges from aging legacy systems, manual data entry, and disconnected workflows that slowed claims handling and broker operations. In 2017, HDI Global turned to Mendix to create custom regional applications and improve its digital capabilities, starting with a solution to centralize data and streamline claims processing.

Mendix implemented low-code applications including OneContainer and later Mendix Beurs to connect HDI Global’s systems with the Dutch insurance exchange, automate claims, clearing, and placement workflows, and reduce manual work. The results included about 80% of processes running automatically or with minimal manual interference, nearly 95% of the claims process updated, fewer data errors, faster processing, and a more maintainable development approach.
