Kao Extends Mobile Sales Application 10 Times Faster Than Estimated

Kao’s salon business (brands like Goldwell and KMS California) needed a faster, more reliable way for sales reps to take and process orders. Their existing mobile laptop app lacked real-time SAP connectivity, so reps often reverted to paper and spent up to two hours a day re-entering orders into the back end, slowing service and risking errors.

Kao partnered with Mendix and reseller Magnus to build an iPad order-entry app integrated with SAP, delivering working interfaces in two days versus an estimated 30—about 10× faster than expected. The user-friendly app, rolling out to 300–400 reps, cuts an average of two hours per rep per day, speeds shipments, made go-live unusually smooth, and gives IT a fast, flexible platform for future apps.
