A Mendix Case Study
ING’s Document & Content Services, together with Mendix partner Appronto, built a Mendix app to enable small, multidisciplinary squads in the Netherlands to create outbound and transactional customer communications. The key challenge was to deliver a “first‑time‑right” solution that complied with ING’s development and security standards while being usable by non‑IT staff and allowing reusable automated tests to preserve squad autonomy.
They implemented Mendix Application Test Suite (ATS) to record and run reusable test scripts across environments, executing automated checks every four hours (over 2,200 tests to date). ATS enabled a fully tested, on‑time launch, uncovered issues that manual testing missed (including a major database bug), reduced manual effort and rework, tightened the feedback loop, and increased business adoption—paving the way for more Mendix apps at ING.
