COA, the Dutch Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers, needed a better way to support residents and staff across 130 centers as budgets, staffing, and manual processes made it hard to keep up with growing demand. Before Mendix, employees relied on paper notes and duplicate data entry, slowing down resident services and daily operations.

COA used Mendix to build a native mobile Employee Mobile Application with offline capabilities and secure access for tasks like identity checks, maintenance requests, and meal distribution. The app saves employees 30 to 60 minutes per day, speeds maintenance notifications by 10 to 15 minutes, has helped make development 2–4x faster, and delivers about €105,000 in annual savings while improving safety, efficiency, and resident experience.
