Eurail.com, which sells Eurail and Interrail cards to more than 200,000 travelers a year, faced a growing, labor‑intensive reservation process that relied on email and took about an hour per booking. As sales climbed—expected to double in the next season—the manual, error‑prone workflow became unsustainable and the company needed a way to automate reservations while leveraging existing systems.
Working with ITvisors, Eurail.com built an integrated, self‑service reservation portal on Mendix in roughly three months using agile sprints. The portal lets travelers and staff manage bookings online, links to payment and email systems, and cut average processing time from ~60 to 15 minutes (four times faster), reduced errors, enabled a smaller team to handle much higher volume, and prepared the company for the peak season.
