Energy Supplier NLE Adopts Mendix's Application Platform to Fuel Innovation

Dutch energy supplier De Nederlandse Energie Maatschappij (NLE), serving 400,000 households and 20,000 commercial accounts, needed to speed innovation and improve service but found traditional .NET development too slow. To address this, NLE and partner First Consulting built a customer self-service portal on Mendix’s low-code platform in just six weeks as the first of a broader app rollout.

Using Mendix’s visual, model-driven tooling, NLE gained much faster delivery, easier changes, and seamless support for agile development—cutting time and cost to about one-fifth of their previous approach. As a result, NLE plans to consolidate all non‑core development on Mendix, retire .NET, ProcessRunner and many home-grown apps, deploy via the Mendix Cloud, and build an in-house Mendix team to drive further innovation.
