EBN Automates Reporting in Oil and Gas Industry

EBN, the Netherlands’ state-owned investment corporation for oil and gas, had moved from a largely administrative role to active partnerships with up to 20 private companies, creating a surge in disparate data from different platforms and formats. The organization needed a centralized data warehouse and a custom ETL process to aggregate drilling, reserves, financial and project data so it could run unified reporting and analysis for partners, shareholders, and internal decision-making.

EBN developed a custom ETL application on the Mendix low-code platform using a Scrum approach, which halved development time compared with Java alternatives and simplified data integrations. The platform enables licensees to contribute data quickly, supports consolidated reporting, and powers an Exploration Simulator that forecasts reserves up to 20 years—helping EBN value licenses, guide strategy, and deliver greater financial benefit to citizens.
