Digitizing Maritime Condition Monitoring with Royal IHC

Royal IHC, a Dutch leader in vessels, equipment and services for dredging, offshore energy, mining and defense (≈3,000 employees, €737.7M revenue in 2020), needed to modernize its condition monitoring service. Data collection was slow and inconsistent—coming via email, file transfers or even USB sticks—and customers only received quarterly PDF reports, which blocked timely insights, historical analysis and clear visibility of program value.

Using customer-validated requirements and Mendix low-code, IHC built a prototype in four days and delivered a production solution in under a month that centralizes data, adds task management, KPI dashboards and historical comparisons. The new app renewed contracts for 19 vessels, won 4 new vessels, earned public endorsement from their largest customer (Vroon), delivered internal savings equivalent to one full-time employee and materially increased customer satisfaction.
