Digitalizing Underwriting and Claims Management with MS Amlin

MS Amlin, a specialty insurer operating across Lloyd’s, the UK and continental Europe with £5.7bn in revenue and ~1,800 staff, set out under its Go Digital initiative to digitalize and automate end‑to‑end underwriting and claims. The organization needed a scalable, user‑friendly solution that could handle complex products and multiple entities, enable broker self‑service, speed up time‑to‑market and improve operational control without sacrificing flexibility.

They chose a multi‑vendor architecture led by Mendix low‑code (built by First Consulting) with Socotra as the policy core and FintechOS for payments, using a modular product approach and dynamic case management. A three‑layer stack (Socotra core, Mendix/Humble Bee apps and end‑user portals) plus Mendix Data Hub integrations delivered broker, underwriting and claims portals; the platform was built in under a year, is live in Belgium, achieves high straight‑through processing, reduces legacy maintenance and license costs, and is being scaled to additional countries.
