Christina McGarry Uses Mendix to Create Better User Experiences

Knowsley Council IT Development Officer Christina McGarry faced outdated, paper-based systems that hampered the council’s Music & Performing Arts service and its Special Guardianship Order financial-assistance process. The challenge was to replace systems that were not fit for purpose, improve user interfaces and mobile access, and streamline workflows for staff, teachers, parents and administrators.

Using Mendix, Christina built a Music & Performing Arts app for course bookings, scheduling, instrument inventory, invoicing and PDF reporting, and a Special Guardianship app with online forms, evidence upload, workflow-driven assessment, financial calculations and automated email alerts. The result was faster development and deployment, better user experiences (including mobile compatibility), improved communication and case management, and measurable efficiency gains and cost savings for the council.
