Case Study: Deutsche Sporthilfe achieves centralized athlete funding and self-service support with Mendix

A Mendix Case Study

Preview of the Deutsche Sporthilfe Case Study

Centralizing Resources and Funding for Thousands of Athletes

Deutsche Sporthilfe, the German Sports Aid Foundation, needed to modernize its legacy, manual funding workflows and create a digital self-service experience for more than 4,000 athletes. Working with Mendix and its implementation partner Proventa, the organization set out to replace PDF-based, email-heavy processes with a scalable web platform that could handle complex athlete support needs.

Mendix helped Deutsche Sporthilfe launch “Meine Sporthilfe” as a progressive web app with a modern interface, self-service profile updates, grant applications, funding overviews, document access, and on-demand support. The app went from development to pre-launch testing in less than eight months and reached 80% adoption among the target user base, while also reducing manual data handling and improving automation across connected systems.
