AntTail Tackles Last Mile Medication Delivery With a Smart App

AntTail is a pharmaceutical supply chain company that set out to solve last-mile medication delivery and patient adherence by ensuring medications stay within required temperature ranges and patients take doses on schedule. The challenge was to integrate disparate IoT, analytics and connectivity technologies into a reliable system that captures sensor data continuously (even offline), triggers role-based alerts for warehouses and deliveries, and provides real-time visibility for stakeholders.

AntTail built a solution on the Mendix platform with a central router hub using Vodafone’s Managed IoT Connectivity to AWS, a Java service feeding Hadoop for storage, and Mendix-driven logic to assign sensor roles and triggers (e.g., Last Mile/adherence, warehouse alarms, delivery confirmations). Exposed via fast REST APIs, the system achieved a 99% success rate in tracking and alarming—maintaining proper medication temperatures and improving adherence—and is being extended to mobile for 24/7 proactive notifications.
