Action for Children Automates Manual Reporting Processes

Action for Children is a UK charity that supports children, young people and families across 400 local sites with 6,000 staff. Facing time-consuming, decentralized reporting and administration driven by spreadsheets and Access databases—plus field staff who regularly had to return to the office to access systems—the organisation launched a digital transformation and enterprise mobility program to modernize processes and boost user adoption.

The charity chose the Mendix low-code platform and created a three-person Mendix center of expertise to rapidly build and iterate multi-channel applications. Paired with mobile rollout and infrastructure upgrades, the new Mendix apps replaced paper and spreadsheets with modular, flexible solutions—including a child protection system, a 1,200‑user health & safety app, property management and client feedback tools—improving productivity, enabling faster change and freeing staff to focus more on supporting children.
