Northern Safety & Industrial, a Utica, NY–based subsidiary of the Würth Group with more than 1,000 employees, sells protective and emergency gear through an eCommerce platform supported by an in-house development team. Facing PCI DSS requirements and the impracticality of manual quarterly checks across dozens of plugins and dependencies, the company needed an automated way to detect vulnerable open source components without disrupting developers’ workflows.

They deployed Mend’s SaaS into Azure DevOps, giving continuous background scanning, an inventory dashboard, and enforceable policies that block or fail builds for noncompliant components. Mend’s alerts (including one that helped them patch a high‑impact Angular.js vulnerability) reduced developer time spent on vulnerability review, improved security and compliance, and delivered measurable ROI as part of their standard security process.
