Mend’s On-Premises Solution Helps DATEV Automate and Manage Their Open Source

DATEV is a Nuremberg-based cooperative and software/IT services firm (350,000 customers, €1.1B revenue, 8,000 employees, 1,800 developers) that relies heavily on open source but needed to ensure license compliance and remediate security vulnerabilities. Their previous, form-based approval process was manual, slow (up to three months), and required developers to trace library dependencies by hand, creating a major bottleneck for secure, compliant development.

DATEV ran a 70-developer POC and selected Mend’s on-premises software for its accuracy, ease of use, and ability to prioritize vulnerabilities. Mend integrated with DATEV’s Jenkins and Kubernetes environments, automated approval and monitoring, and provided detailed reporting and policy management—reducing OSS approval from weeks or months to seconds, improving visibility into open source usage, and enabling focused remediation of the highest-risk vulnerabilities.
