Tapjoy is Powering its Mobile Ad Platform with MemSQL

Tapjoy, a mobile advertising and marketing platform reaching over 500 million users, faced the challenge of delivering personalized, real-time ads while supporting extreme scale — more than one million transactions per minute. To serve relevant ads instantly and perform multi-segment (overlap) targeting, Tapjoy needed an HTAP (hybrid transactional and analytical processing) database that combined low-latency transactions with concurrent analytics.

By adopting MemSQL, Tapjoy gained a single, SQL-based HTAP system that supports updates/deletes, integrates with standard tools and commodity hardware, and streams data in real time. The MemSQL cluster enabled Tapjoy to process 60,000 queries per second with sub-10 ms responses, powering real-time ad optimization and overlap analysis to deliver up-to-the-last-click targeting and a clear competitive advantage.
