Case Study: Insite360 achieves real-time, scalable IoT analytics in the cloud with MemSQL

A MemSQL Case Study

Insite360 Uses MemSQL Pipelines to Deliver IoT in the Cloud

Insite360 is a leading SaaS provider for fuel management and environmental services used by gas stations and fuel suppliers worldwide. Facing massive, continuous IoT sensor streams (automated tank gauges, dispensers) and strict regulatory and security needs, their initial cloud stack (PostgreSQL → Redshift with AWS EMR) proved slow, costly, complex, rigid, and prone to cloud-vendor lock-in—limiting real-time analytics, alarm management, and scalable ML use.

To solve this they rearchitected around Kafka for messaging, Python for processing, and MemSQL (now SingleStore) with Pipelines for ETL, storage, and analytics, eliminating EMR and consolidating workloads. The result: dramatically faster, real-time analytics; big cost savings (EMR savings in the tens of thousands monthly and overall costs expected to drop ~50%); simpler operations with fewer staff; better scalability, portability, and security; and improved alarm management and machine-learning capabilities for immediate, trustworthy insights.
