How two organizations planning one major conference collaborated with ease

The North Carolina Public Health Association (NCPHA), together with the North Carolina Division of Public Health, co‑hosts the two‑day Public Health Leaders’ Conference each year. Their biggest challenge was coordination: paper speaker applications were mailed, scanned and passed between organizations, forcing NCPHA staff to manually enter data into spreadsheets and email applicants one‑by‑one, which was time‑consuming and made real‑time visibility into the review process difficult.

In January 2019 NCPHA adopted MemberClicks’ Review Panel to collect abstracts electronically, giving planners consolidated visibility into submission and review status, anonymous submissions to reduce bias, and shared reviewer comments for easier collaboration across the state. The tool simplified communication with submitters, sped up the review process, was easy for reviewers to learn, and has since been reused for other conferences.
