The University of KwaZulu‑Natal (UKZN) is a fast‑transforming, research‑intensive institution and one of Africa’s leading universities. To support its Strategic Plan and ambitions for greater internationalisation, brand growth and digital innovation, UKZN needed a 360° service to modernise media monitoring, social media community management and divisional performance reporting across its campuses.

UKZN partnered with Meltwater to deploy a single platform for corporate relations, social media management and reporting and set a long‑term digital‑transformation roadmap into 2026. Results included 127% YoY growth in news media reach (37.1B potential reach), 105% YoY growth in total media coverage (117K mentions), a 218% YoY increase in social posting activity, a 57% YoY rise in social impressions and a 100% YoY improvement in sentiment score.
