True North, a Cambridge, MA–based Medical Affairs consultancy that helps biotech and pharma teams with AI-driven insight generation, digital biomarkers and Voice of the Patient research, faced the challenge of reliably capturing patient perspectives across markets—particularly in Asia where English-language sources don’t reflect local attitudes and pharma use of social media is constrained. They needed comprehensive, exportable social data and analysis to better understand patient experiences such as the mental health impact of chemotherapy and to inform clinical research and stakeholder planning.
Using Meltwater’s social intelligence platform and dedicated support, True North gained high‑quality coverage of Asia-based platforms and an easy-to-review, exportable data flow that enabled the team to uncover 135 actionable insights—highlighting, for example, links between chemotherapy-related depression and poorer outcomes. Those insights have driven deeper clinician engagement, informed new treatment development, and are being applied to improve patient care across the projects.
